St Judas Church Autumn Fete.

It was great to see so many of you out for the church fete on Saturday. As usual it was a splendid day in the grounds of Saint Judas (not Iscariot) church.

Mrs Hughes raised £225 on the raffle . One lucky ticket. Mr Mitchel from Chuff Passage won a bottle of champagne. And Albert Jones was delighted when he won a free blow job from Jimmy the Gardener. Jimmy is available for leaf blowing and general gardening work during the week, cash only.

Two lots of splendid cakes along with the book sale raised a further £21.16 for Saint Judas church funds.

The hall was full of craft stalls and our favourite volunteers were on hand with their memories and tales from their life’s work. The church garden was at its best with many, many flowers in bloom and the shady sheds were put to good use as shops by members of the congregation.

The surprise sell out this year was the cream teas which were all sold within half an hour of opening. And we have to say a big thank you to 87 year old Agatha Hillingbottomdown who sold her hand knitted willy warmers which she made at home to raise funds for the church.

A big thank you must go to the Friends of Saint Judas who had stalls throughout the fete and also to the band, Dusty Strings, for their willingness to come on a non-earning day. The whole day was conducted with great cheerfulness and generosity of spirit by everyone present.

Well done! Here’s to next year……!
